Author Guidelines

1. The article has never been published or accepted for publication, or is being considered for publication elsewhere. In addition to the manuscript, a written statement must be attached explaining that the article is original and does not contain elements of plagiarism.
2. Types of articles suitable for publication include: research reports and conceptual ideas.
3. Another type of article that is suitable is a book review. Please note the following requirements:
  • The book being reviewed must have been recently published (in the last year for books in Indonesian and two years for books in foreign languages).
  • The book review must be between 3-5 pages.
  • A copy/scan of the book cover must be attached.
4. Articles should be written in Indonesian and English using academic language with standard structures. Manuscripts are typed in Microsoft Word (*.doc/*.docx/*.rtf), A4 paper size, narrow margins, Times New Roman 11 pt, 1 pt line spacing, and 3000–7000 words including references, figures, and tables.
5. Articles must be structured as essays containing:
  • Abstract: 120–150 words in Indonesian or English.
  • Introduction: General background, current review, novelty, problem, and purpose (no bibliography).
  • Methods: As a separate section for research or integrated in the introduction for reflective/literature-based work.
  • Results and Discussion: Supported by tables, graphs, photos; organized chronologically and systematically by cause-effect or result-based flow.
  • Conclusion: Summarizes problem findings, not repeated verbatim.
  • Notes: Explanations that cannot fit in sidenotes.
  • References: APA Sixth Edition, include primary/secondary sources, use tools like Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, etc.
6. Citations must follow APA Sixth Edition (e.g., Smelser, 1962, p. 22) and all in-text citations must appear in the reference list and vice versa. Use (&) for two authors, and "et al." for more than two authors.
7. Examples of APA references:
  • Printed book: Author, AA (Year). Title of work. City: Publisher.
  • Online book: Author, AA (Year). Title [E-Reader Version]. Retrieved from URL or DOI.
  • Printed journal: Author, AA (Year). Title. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), pages.
  • Online journal: Author, AA (Year). Title. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), pages. DOI/URL.
  • Website: Author, AA (Date). Title. Retrieved from URL.
  • Newspaper: "Title of Article". Newspaper Name, pp. xx–xx.
  • Magazine: Author, AA (Date). "Title of article". Magazine, pp.-pp.
  • Encyclopedia: Author, AA (Year). Entry. In Encyclopedia. City, Country: Publisher.
  • Archive: Publication Title, No., Issued Date.
8. The editor appreciates citations from previous articles published in JECEN.
9. Articles must be submitted in Microsoft Word format via the Online Submission page.
10. Manuscripts must pass multiple stages: editorial check, author-editor correspondence, peer review, editing, and publication.
11. Rejected manuscripts will be returned to the author with written notification.
12. Authors will receive: submission statement, publishing agreement, and APC receipt.
13. Authors can download the article template via the provided link.

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • 1. Submission has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.
  • 2. File format is OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect.
  • 3. URLs for references are included where applicable.
  • 4. Text uses 12pt Constantia font, italics (no underline), with visuals placed in the body.
  • 5. Text follows the style and references in Author Guidelines.
  • 6. Instructions for Ensuring Blind Review are followed if applicable.
  • 7. Authors confirm submission via WhatsApp and include phone number.
  • 8. APC applies: IDR xxx.xxx per article. Ensure you read the APC policy.
